A Dark Side of Creativity?

New research from Harvard proves an association between creativity and dishonesty. I guess creativity can be used for bad but at The Ideas Bodega we'd rather focus on the good! An interesting experiment non the least...

At Cannes Festival of Creativity This Week...

"Create the conditions where creativity flourishes. It is more painful to contain creative energy than to release it."
Spoken by our hero, Sir Ken Robinson at the Cannes Festival of Creativity 2011

Finding Creative Talent - It Might Be Right Under Your Nose...

As a result of this, HR depts are desperately trying to find and hire people with good creative thinking skills. Kate Canales is a Creative Director at Frog. Do you have the "Curse Of Knowledge"?

Anne Herrman Nehdi explains that "another big challenge to creative thinking is the “curse of knowledge.” What we know from brain research is that we are naturally pattern-seeking devices. Once we learn something, that creates a pattern in our thinking; our brain is naturally looking for that pattern as we interact with the world which ultimately blinds us in our ability to see and think in new ways beyond our established patterns. The solution is to cross train our brains and introduce different processes and tools to break out of that natural pattern-seeking mode." If you need help breaking out of old ways of thinking then contact The Ideas Bodega about our 1 day Idea Generation Masterclass!

Write Your Ideas Down - The Power of Your Moleskine...

In this video from the PSFK conference in New York City we see how precious our ideas are. But only if you actually write them down. From Molskine to Marketplace tells the story of how initial ideas written down in Joe and the founders’ notebooks have provided most of the Airbnb's company structure and creative solutions. It might be worth flicking through your Moleskine to see what ideas you've forgotten about...http://vimeo.com/23275754

Using music to promote new technology..

In the last few weeks Google and Microsoft have successfully partnered with popular bands to promote their new technology.

Google partnered with Arcade Fire to create an interactive music video for the song "We Used To Wait" The personalised online experience (The Wilderness Downtown) is very unique, innovative and emotive and consequently went viral instantly - proving to be a really successful way to show off the capabilities of HTML5 with Google's Chrome browser.

Similarly this week the Gorillaz helped launch Microsoft's Beta version of Internet Explorer 9. Microsoft approached Gorillaz and asked them to develop an online experience that would showcase the potential of the Web when viewed through Internet Explorer 9 Beta. It was a typically humorous, slightly dark Gorillaz creation with cartoon member Murdoc showing off his 'Microsoft employee of the month' status and discussing the benefits of the browser with a geeky cartoon character, 'Mike O'Soft.'
