Using music to promote new technology..

In the last few weeks Google and Microsoft have successfully partnered with popular bands to promote their new technology.

Google partnered with Arcade Fire to create an interactive music video for the song "We Used To Wait" The personalised online experience (The Wilderness Downtown) is very unique, innovative and emotive and consequently went viral instantly - proving to be a really successful way to show off the capabilities of HTML5 with Google's Chrome browser.

Similarly this week the Gorillaz helped launch Microsoft's Beta version of Internet Explorer 9. Microsoft approached Gorillaz and asked them to develop an online experience that would showcase the potential of the Web when viewed through Internet Explorer 9 Beta. It was a typically humorous, slightly dark Gorillaz creation with cartoon member Murdoc showing off his 'Microsoft employee of the month' status and discussing the benefits of the browser with a geeky cartoon character, 'Mike O'Soft.'
